Story
Between Biarritz and Lourdes, facing the Pyrénées at the heart of Bearn, Henri Ramonteu creates dry and sweet white wines from an exceptional terroir. Wines of Jurançon with their fruity, complex aromas and elegant golden color, will enchant lovers of fine, signature wines. Henri’s philosophie is as such: “ Details are what create perfection, but perfection itself is never a detail”.
Vineyard
The vineyard covers 104 acres of clay dominant terroir (Clay-silica). Vines are planted on the steep hillsides with a South, South-East exposure and differing altitude between the plots (400m for the highest). Vines benefit of optimum climatic conditions.
Vinification
Vine management is extremely rigorous. Everything is done by hand. The preservation of nature and respect of terroir is their priority. Handharvest at the end of December (sorted 4 times). Grapes are dried by over-maturation (raisining method). Direct pressing, followed by fermentation in new oak barrels for 24 months.
Tasting Notes
This wine is intense on the nose with aromas of exotic ripe fruits and candied citrus. The mouth is delicate and sumptuous with incredible length, along with flavors of toasted brioche and ripe apricot. This is a sweet wine rich in natural sugars.
Food Pairing
Perfect as a desert or digestif, but also paris well with creamy cheeses or tartatin.
