Between Biarritz and Lourdes, facing the Pyrénées at the heart of Bearn, Henri Ramonteu creates dry and sweet white wines from an exceptional terroir. Wines of Jurançon with their fruity, complex aromas and elegant golden color, will enchant lovers of fine, signature wines. Henri’s philosophie is as such: “ Details are what create perfection, but perfection itself is never a detail”.
The vineyard covers 104 acres of clay dominant terroir (Clay-silica). Vines are planted on the steep hillsides with a South, South-East exposure and differing altitude between the plots (400m for the highest).Vines benefit of optimum
Vine management is extremely rigorous. Everything is done by hand. The preservation of nature and respect of terroir is their priority. Pneumatic pressing and use of stainless steel tanks allow receipt of the grapes in perfect condition. 80% of the harvest is fermented and aged in French oak barrels. Only the top cuvées will receive new oak. Maturation in barrels varies between 6 months and 2 years depending on wines. Every step of the fermentation and maturation receives great attention to details.
This wine is intense on the nose with aromas of exotic fruit and citrus, laced with hints of oak. Flacors of ripe pineapple, quince and toasted chestnut. The mouth is full and round, with a sweet lingering finish.
Perfect with most cheeses and desserts. The most famous pairing is with a foie gras mi-cuit.
