Story
Since about 1890, four generations of the Gaudron family have lived and cultivated vines in Vernou, running a vineyard that covers 25 hectarese. The Domain is built on a limestone-clay soil which rests on a sub-layer of tuffeau, the elegant stone used to build the Chateaux for which the region is so renowned.
Vineyard
The vines were purchased in 2012, stretching over 1.2 hectares and tended to using organic practices. The vineyards are situated on a hillside on the heights of Vernou in Brenne. The plot is composed of clayey limestone soil and vines of on average 40 years old.
Vinification
Destemming, pneumatic pressing, static settling of the must at low temperature during 24h. Fermentation at the cellar temperature during 1 month. The fermentation is stopped by lowering the temperature. Maturation in vats. Two rackings and one filtration.
Tasting Notes
Semi-dry white wine which combines elegance and vigor with sweetness and an inherent freshness. This wine is very fruity (ripened quince flavor) due to an ideal maturity harvest.
Food Pairing
Served chilled as an aperitif. Pairs well with indian food, chicken tajine, spicy shrimps and cheeses.
