Story
Gilbert Chon and his Sons, owner-winemakers, operate over 60 hectares of vineyards with care and passion. Originally, Mathurin Chon left his native soil along the Loire around 1719, and settled in Saint-Julien-de-Concelles where the wine is now made.
Vineyard
The Melon de Bourgogne initially came from Burgundy. This grape is especially well suited to the climate of the ocean, and thrives near the western side of the Loire Valley. These vines take up 10 hectares of land, planted on sandy limestone soils.
Vinification
Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in colour with a light intensity on the nose. Aromas of citrus, lemon zinginess with a dry edge. Palate is extra dry with light body and crisp acidity. Good balance with a shortish finish.
Food Pairing
A decent aperitif wine. As with all Muscadet, would be good with mollusks, oysters and such.
