Story
Domaine des Champs Fleuris has been a family Domain for generations. Today, it is under the supervision of the 3rd generation “vigneron,” Denis Rétiveau. The estate is dedicated to its terroir, respecting Biodiversity by implementing “la culture raisonnée”- otherwise known as using little to no interference both in the vineyard and cellar.
Vineyard
The vineyards are planted on calcareous plateaus that dominate the Loire Valley. The vines are centered in the Troglodytes, at the heart of the Turquant Village. “Les Tufolies” is planted on a deep tuffeau limestone soil, particularly wellsuited for growing the Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 20 years. Harvest is mechanical at maturity.
Vinification
The fruit is destemmed and had sorted. The fruit goes through short maceration (12 to 18 days) at 86F, with Micro-oxygenation occuring simultaneously. The wine is matured in stainless steel vats for 6 months.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a lovely ruby robe with aromas of fresh red fruit. The mouth is ample, filled with supple tannins and a mouthwatering fruity finish.
Food Pairing
Best paired with fresh fish bathed in a red sauce, or a classic sliced skirt steak.
