The Château de Parnay is a flagship estate of the AOC Saumur Champigny. The property is located along the Loire River, classified as UNESCO World Heritage. In 2006, this esteemed property was acquired by Regis Vincenot and Mathias Levron who transformed the land into a jewel of the Loire Valley, as well and becoming Certified Organic since 2013.
Mathias’ Philosophy is as such: « Good grapes for good wine. We have focused on organic wine process and sustainable farming. To achieve our goals we must watch our vines closely and we must make careful and precise selection of our plants».
Located in Saumur. These grapes are planted on Clay-Limestone soils, are considered Old Vines.
Manual harvest. 3 days of pre-fermentation cold maceration at 15°C, with 12 days gentle extraction & maceration.
On the nose, the wine expresses both power and freshness around an aromatic complexity which is dominated by lightly jammed red fruits. In the mouth, it is round, sweet, full and generous, with a final touch of silky tannins which melts in the harmonious structure dominated by the red fruits.
This wine will evolve quitely in 4 to 5 years. It can also be enjoyed now. Best enjoyed with grilled white meats, soft cheeses of beef carpaccio.
