Story
The winegrowing area of Puligny-Montrachet is one of the most recognized regions for fine white wines. It is surrounded by the
villages of Meursault, to the north, and Chassagne Montrachet, to the south. While each wine is unique, they are all elegant and stylish.
Vineyard
This plot Puligny-Montrachet “Les Enseignères” is situated just below the Grand Cru Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. The vines are on average 45 years old, certified organic and yield 23 hl/ha. The land is east facing, sitting on brown limestone with alternating ridges of marl and clay limestone. The soild are ploughed.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked, and whole bunches are pressed directly in a pneumatic press. The wine is clarified in stainless steel vats, prior to being moved into oak (33% new) via gravity flow. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occur without yeast addition, and the final wine is aged in barrels for 17 months.
Tasting Notes
This wine has a golden hue with hints of green. Tropical fruit and lime on the nose, with a fresh citrus palate rounded by a touch of salinity and complexity.
Food Pairings
This wine will pair well with a light potato salad topped with fresh herbs, deviled eggs, or grilled salmon.
