Story
The Château Moulin La Grangère sits at the foot of the finest slopes of Saint- Emilion, near its sister estate Château La Grangère. Both of these wineries share the same privileged location as its esteemed neighbors Château Laroque and Château Pavie.
Vineyard
La Grangère is located in the magnificent town of Saint Christophe des Bardes. The plots are scattered around the estate- 2 ha along the Castle Troplong Mondot, 1 ha with the same exposure as the Château Pavie and 3 ha on the south facing slopes. The vines are on average 30 years old, planted on clay-limestone soil and subsoil. They are Certified Organic.
Vinification
The harvest is manually acheived through multiple tries, and sorted on a vibrating table. Fermentation occurs in thermoregulated tanks for 40 to 50 days. The wine is aged in 77% thermo-regulated vats, and 23% french oak barrels. The wine continues aging in bottle for 16-18 months prior to hitting the market.
Tasting Notes
Notes of ripe fruit and floral open on the nose, with a mouth of sherry, raspberry and back berry. Flavors of forest floor and hints of spiced vanilla offer a lingering finish.
Food Pairing
This elegant wine pairs well with spicy stews, hard cheeses such as Comté, Cantal or Cheddar and a dark chocolate dessert.
