Story
The men of Beychevelle have always ruled their land nobly and brought glory to the château ever since its construction in 1565 by Bishop François of Foix-Candale. Today, Château Beychevelle belongs to Grands Millésimes de France, which is part of the Castel and Suntory groups. Remarkable women, such as Marie-Amélie Kohn, Madame Guestier and Madame Heine, Marie-Louise Fould and Lillette (Elisabeth de Foucaud) have marked its history, developing the decorative style, the aura of hospitality and the beautiful gardens.
Vineyard
The Château has 90 hectares of vines, centralized on two plateaus of deep Garonne gravel: ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. The vignerons take a sustainable agriculture approach, with part of the vineyard managed organically. Grapes are harvested manually.
Vinification
With a customized, modern winery, every vine has a place in a plot-by-plot vinification process, along with gentle transfers via gravity flow. Despite being made from young vines, Amiral de Beychevelle benefits from the same growing techniques, meticulous sorting, and traditional barrel ageing.
Tasting Notes
Nose of black fruit, fresh and elegant on the palate. It can be kept for up to fifteen years, depending on the vintage.
Food Pairing
Simple yet hearty foods, such as a juicy steak frites or braised lamb with giant white beans.
