Italy – Tuscany Region

Situated in Central Italy, Tuscany is home to some of the oldest wine-producing locales in the world. Its geography is dominated by the Apennine Mountains, but its mountainous terrain also gives way to sun-soaked rolling hills, where a wide variety of white and red wines are produced. Of Tuscany’s many wines, perhaps its Sangiovese-based reds are most closely associated with the region.

Tuscan winemaking has deep roots in tradition, but has also developed dramatically since the introduction of international grape varietals and the increasing use of French barrels in the 1970’s.
