| Year established: | The historic vineyards of family-owned Monthuys Pere et Fils in Champagne have been cultivated since the 17th Century. The current winemaking operation began in 1961, when Gabriel Baron was given 2.5 acres by his father, and has progressed dramatically in size and quality since then. |
| Size of the vineyards: | 86 acres |
| Agriculture: |
- Sustainable environmental practices including: water conservation and recycling.
- Careful vineyard and winemaking control to ensure consistent quality of the Champagne.
|
| Total production: | 30,000 cases per year |
| Terroir/Soil: | The vineyards boast a dry, sunny, south/south east orientation. The proximity of the Marne River (the longest river in France, which flows east of Paris) creates a temperate microclimate which prevents frosts during the winter and allows better maturation of the grapes during the summer. Clay and limestone soil. |
